Pigeon racing: Around the local lofts

The N.I.P.A. started its Young Bird campaign on Sunday (July 20) with a series of area liberations from Navan, Mullingar and Tullamore.

Section C were in Mullingar and the birds were liberated at 12:45 pm.

Local results

Ballyclare HPS: (8/147) 1st, 2nd, WR Moore & Son 1254.65, 1254.65; 3rd, G & R Lawrie 1252; 4th, R Duddy 1250. There was a fairytale start for the father-and-son partnership of Wilbert and Alan Moore who topped the Ballyclare club listings in the first race of their pigeon career. The winner was bred by Danny Dixon of Ballymoney and is a Lambrecht. The second-placed bird was purchased from Harmony Lofts in a batch of youngsters earliar in the season. The pair dedicated their success to their great friend, the late Bob McMeekin.
