His lasting legacy includes the development of Ballycastle Academy to encourage young footballers.

At present the Academy is thriving with teams ranging from under 8’s to under 17’s.

As chairman Billy presided over the cup and league winning team of 2013. Originally from Scotland Billy became well respected by the people of Ballycastle and the renaming of the pitch using a quote in his native Gaelic is a fitting tribute to one of sport’s true gentlemen.

It is an appropriate legacy that his name will be remembered by all teams playing on the pitch.

Ballycastle United and Academy would like to thank Causeway Coast and Glens Council for enabling the renaming and the council staff for assisting in the preparation and unveiling.
