'Players should relish big games' - boss Gregg

INSTITUTE go into this weekend's clash with bottom club Lisburn Distillery, knowing a victory would virtually guarantee them Carling Premiership football next season.

With no one really knowing if relegation is on the cards, 'Stute boss John Gregg is only worrying about his side.

"Although no one can tell me what the situation really is in regards relegation, I'm only concentrating on our next game and that's against Lisburn Distillery, on Saturday," he said.

"I saw Distillery at Coleraine last weekend and I have to admit I was impressed with them, they thoroughly deserved their win and could have won by a bigger margin.

"However as I have already said, I'm only worried about ourselves and I feel we need to go into this weekend's match against Distillery looking forward to it.

"I have told my players that they should relish playing in another big game and make no mistake about it, this weekend's match is a big game."

The Waterside men, who took on champions Glentoran last night (Tuesday), should welcome back Shaun Holmes from suspension, but Ruairi McClean misses out after receiving a red card at the Oval on Tuesday night, while duo Kevin Ramsey and Ruairi Boyle are both doubtful with injuries.

"We played very well at Coleraine last Tuesday night and because of that I have a selection headache; unfortunately Kevin is struggling with a back problem and Ruairi has a calf injury."

Following their surprise victory at Coleraine, the Whites have moved nine points behind the Drumahoe club prior to last evening's clash at the Oval and if results go their way this week, 'Stute could move a massive 15 points clear of Tommy Wright's charges.

Nevertheless Gregg still believes there will be some twists and turns before the season ends.

"Until we are mathematically safe then I won't be taking my eye off the ball so to speak and nor will my players," he added.

"I really do believe that we have still a lot of big matches coming up before the split; but I'm not going to change my tune, I'll be taking one game at a time and that means I'm only concentrating on the Distillery game."

Meanwhile Institute host title chasing Crusaders next Tuesday evening (KO 7.45pm).
