Plenty of action at Coleraine finals night

THE competition finals at Coleraine Bowling Club were played on Thursdaym, Friday and Saturday of last week with Tony Blair grabbing a hat-trick of titles.

Basil Kennedt partnered him for two of the wins and he also lifted the Barrie Cup in the singles handicap tournament.

David Reilly was the unluckiest man as he finished up as runner up on no less than three occasions.

Millie Elder is making a habit of winning the Martin Cup partnering Willie McKay to victory against Lyn Davis and Victor Dallas.

This was Millie's third win in succession having previously won it twice with John Clements.

The results were as follows:

Singles - McLaughlin Shield: Jimmy O'Neill 21, David Reilly 16; Baird Cup: Jonathon Calvin beat David Reilly; Barrie Cup: Tony Blair 21, R Steven 15; Ross Cup (novice): F Monaghan 21, P Irwin 11; Bank of Ireland Cup: Willie Harbison beat Jimmy O'Neill.

Pairs - Lamont Cup: Tony Blair & Basil Kennedy 21, Alec Davidson & Jonathon Calvin 15; McMaster Cup: Tony Blair & Basil Kennedy 16, Bertie Patterson & David Reilly 15; Martin Cup: Millie Elder & Willie McKay beat Lyn David & Victor Dallas; Fulton Cup (Rinks): Winner - Hugh Connor 89; Runners up (dead heat) - Willie McKay & Fred Logan 52.
