Plenty of action at May Day races

THE fans enjoyed another great days racing at Aghadowey on May Day as the North West Super Cup Bangers Championship took centre stage.

There was plenty of thrills and spills at the EFS Ltd sponsored meeting as the track welcomed drivers from all over the province. They served up another great days racing for the large crowd, especially the Bangers, which was the main event of the day.

The final was a fantastic spectacle with several drivers coming to the fore. Garvagh man Willie McFaul showed he can compete with the best of them as he battled it out with William Laffin and John Golligher as well as a strong contingent from Portadown.

In what was a hard fought race Golligher took the win from Laffin and McFaul.

The was a big entry for the Eurostocks with a large number of new drivers. One of them, Joe Fleming, in his new Ford Focus, was hot on the pace from the start. In the end though it was ‘Big Dave’ from Portadown who dominated the class. He was talked into trying the Eurostocks and boy did it prove to be a good decision as he stormed to three win in the Ford Puma.

He took the class win in the final and was heard saying the Puma was the closest thing to a F1 car!

Trevor McFaul won the Lightning Rods in his new car.

The Juniors again showed up well. Peter Stewart again showed what he is made of as did Liam Wilson from Articlave. His father if a former Lightning Rod driver and you can see Liam has inherited some of his talent.
