Plenty of racing left for West Down Wheelers after a cancelled race

Last week’s 10 mile TT for West Down Wheelers was cancelled due to the bad weather. It will now be held on a Thursday night in August, which will mean that the club will have four 10 mile TTs in August, along with an Australian Pursuit.

With just the Hillclimb after these the club racing season will draw to a close.

Next week’s race takes cyclists back to the Donacloney circuit for the Donacloney 5 Lap Road Race Imperial Cup.

Paul McManus and Pete Savage have had an excellent year so far in The Triathlons and Dualthlons. After their excellent results in the recent Causeway Coast Triathlon, their attention now turns to the Titanic Olympic Triathlon in Belfast, which will be held on July 26.

Paul is using this for final preparation for his forthcoming Iron Man Competition which will be held in Mont Tremblant, Canada. Everyone at West Down Wheelers would like to wish them both every success and a very safe race.

Would all members please note that a club meeting will be held either during the first or second week of August. This is to finalize plans for their fast approaching West Down GP which will be held on August 22nd.

Those at West Down Wheelers would like to express their deepest sympathy to the Scott family on the sudden passing of one of the countries well known racing men, Gordy (Scotty) Scott, who died after taking part in a recent TT held at Warrenpoint.
