Plenty of thrills and spills as drivers serve up another treat at Aghadowey

The weather conditions were just perfect for the latest round of races at the Aghadowey circuit at the end of last month.

With drivers over from Scotland to compete in the 2014 European Pro Stock Championship, plus the King of Aghadowey, Two Litre Bangers and the Stock Rods were oit to race for the PC Paints and Components race.

The Thunder Rods were first on the track and as ever it was a hard fought first heat as the drivers revelled on the dry track.

It was great to see Clifford Nevin out again after having to rebuild his car after some hard driving in the last outing.

Dylan Booth led from the front in the first heat and took the win.

The class was again proving to be very competitive and there was some spills in the final as the field was decimanted with six cars being ruled out.

Clifford Nevin suffered again after a small rod broke at the front of the car.

Dylan Booth proved hard to beat as he took the win.

The Lightning Rods were up next.

Winston Weir battled his way through to take the wins and the final.

The Pro Stock race was the main event of the night. The final was to see Bacon, Watson and Bell push hard and fight their way to the front, but the chasing pack were pushing hard behind them.

Agnew then forced his way to the front with the Fleming brothers on his bumper.

A crash at the top endforced a restart with Agnew holding off the pack to win the final.

The race which served up the most entertainment was the two litre bangers.

Ballymoney’s Steven Bolton was battling to win the prize, but in the first heat he was put to the wall.

In the final Jonathan Campbell was the front runner, and even after going the wrong way he went on to win with car 684 in second.

The racing on the night was some of the best to date and it is credit to the team at Aghadowey for putting on such a great show.
