He has joined forces with hismedal winning team of Hugh McConaghie and Eddy McKinney.

The Ballymoney team have a great spread of strength in representation across the age groups.

These three will be out to show the young bucks like Arthur Taggart (U14), Shay Donley (U14), Oliver Watt (U14) and Robbie Doherty (U16) how to win races and show why the Ballymoney riders are tops in the sport.

In second place at the WDGP was Cushendall rider Brendan McAlister, a great result from the fast finishing Glens man.

BALLYBOGEY ROAD 10M TT

In weather more like March, Ballymoney CC Biesty’s Centra held their weekly club race on the Ballybogey Road.

Recently, this road saw the world’s second largest stage race - the Giro d’Italia - and its 200 riders head towards the North Coast from the nearby town of Ballymoney.

The weather did not deter Ballymoney CC’s youth riders Lauren Laverty (U12) and fast finishers Robbie Doherty (U16) and Shay Donley (U14).

With exams restricting top quality junior rider Stuart Laverty it was a battle for the honours and Stuart’s time trial rival Mervyn Linton was in action. Mervyn, who uses these mid week races to prepare for the TT Championships that are later in the season, was riding not just one 10TT, but two of them back to back.

The following week is round 2 of the Interclub league and due to excess farm traffic on the popular Vow circuit,it may have to be changed to either the Tullaghans or Stroan Circuit.

Ballymoney won this six club series last year and thisyear they see it as an opportunity for young bloods to cut their racing teeth.
