Podium finish for Seapark ladies

Seapark AC ladies have secured two podium spots after competing in 10k events last week.

On Wednesday, June 25, hundreds of athletes descended on Drains Bay in Larne for the first ever Runher ‘Pop Up’ event.

Amid wet and misty conditions , runners competed in 5k and 10k races within the scenic Carnfunnock Country Park.

Representing Seapark AC in the 5k event were Gillian Grant (32:03) and Karen McMaster (33:28).

Running the 10k in Seapark colours were Caroline Salters, crossing the line in second place with a time of 49:40; Karen Poag in 55:42; Roisin McConnell in 58:20 and Lynette Magill with a time of 59:00.

On Friday, June 27, Seapark members competed in the Ards Half Marathon, part of the Pure Running-ChampionChip Ireland Half Marathon Series.

Joining over 600 runners, Seapark was represented by Bobbie Irvine, Charlie McCormick, Gary Connolly, Brendan Rice, Angela McCormick, Karen Poag, Julie-Ann Mitchell and Andy Smyth.

Due to an error with the chip times, official times are not yet available.

Meanwhile, athletes from the club competed in a number of the weekly Parkrun events on Saturday.

Running the Carrickfergus route were Philip Poag 26:15 (PB) and Chloe Anderson 29:06 (PB). Also taking part was Charlie McCormick and his daughter, Beth McCormick, competing in her first ever 5k event.

Father and daughter crossed the line together in a time of 29:36 and Karen McMaster finished in a super time of 31:51 (PB). Gillian Cordner ran the Craigavon course in a time of 21:08, ending up the third lady home.

Also on Saturday, Gary Connolly and Gillian Connolly ran the Tullysaran 10k inaugural event in Benburb, Dungannon.

Cordner crossed the line in 44:43, finishing third lady while Connolly finished in 48:06.
