Podium places for Larne AC’s Morrow and McAllister

The distances for the junior triathlon: 400m swim, 7k cycle and a 3k run. Jack was the first to cross the finish line out of 30 athletes in his category.

Larne AC’s Amy Beggs completed the gruelling 40-mile Ultra Marathon in a superb time of 8:15.53 in 37th place.

In the marathon event, Phelim McAllister took a podium finish in third place in an excellent time of 3:40.48 seconds.

The most popular event of the day was the half-marathon. From a Larne AC perspective, performance of the day went to Wayne Morrow who claimed second place out of 382 runners in a great time of 01:29.44. Next home for the club and in ninth was Bernard Brady who ran 01:36.48.

Other times: Ian Brennan (98th, 02:06.06); Dominic Watt (183rd, 02:2002); Keith Hetherington (194th, 02:21.29); Ricky Mann (243rd, 02:28.49); Lorraine Whary (244th, 02:28.49); Laura McAllister (266th, 02:32.26); Ian McCluggage (267th, 02:32.26). Shiree Brennan (291st, 02:35.50); Stephen Montgomery (304th, 02:39.26) and Kirsten Montgomery (305th, 02:39.26); Marty McKay (330th 02: 47.47; Geraldine Hastings (332nd, 02:48.11); Norma Johnston had to retire from the event due to injury.

In the 10k race Martan Keane was sixth (42:44), while Juliane Keane finished 37th and 6th lady overall (5:19). Rhonda Brady was second female home for the club in 48th (11th lady) in a time of 55:35 seconds.

Aurora Bangor 10k

On Saturday four members from Larne AC joined over 650 runners to compete in the Aurora Bangor 10k in County Down.

William Thompson was first home for the club in 34th place, clocking 0:38:04. Sammy Drummond and Brian Heron battled it out to the finish line with Sammy claiming 37th (38:44) and Brian 38th (38:44). Janine Rainey was our only female runner taking part and she was 221st in 0:49:21.
