It was 2-0 to the town seniors as Portadown appeared on course for another boost in the fight for a top-three finish.

However, Raphoe hit back with a quickfire double to salvage a point from the Premier League tussle.

Portadown enjoyed the majority of possession in contrast to Raphoe’s direct approach but clear sights of goal proved restricted.

Jamie Knipe was on hand to protect the clean sheet following an opening for Raphoe due to a defensive slip.

Adam Stevenson’s drag flick then bounced off the base of the post before half-time.

Portadown increased the attacking threat in the second half and pressure included a Stephen Johnston deflection which hit the crossbar.

However, the opening goal arrived for Johnston thanks to a clinical finish from the right.

The scorer played a part in Portadown’s second goal when clever skill helped him skip past two challenges before releasing Zach McClelland along the left.

McClelland’s delivery was controlled and converted by Neil Gilmore with a reverse-stick finish.

Portadown struggled to add additional goals to the approach play and suffered due to Raphoe’s late push.
