Point-to-point at Moneyglass this Saturday

THE Mid-Antrim Hunt are holding their Spring point-to-point this Saturday, April 28, at the Higgins Estate, Moneyglass with the first race starting at 2pm.

The Mid-Antrim Hunt point-to-point is always a popular occasion.

The preparations are well underway on the course and all are hoping for an excellent day’s racing for runners and punters alike.

The point-to-point was previously under the charge of Gary Clugston who was justifiably proud of many extremely well-run point-to-points.

The new Clerk of the Course is Katrina Mackie, daughter of Wilson Dennison who needs no introduction in racing and hunting circles, and she and her team will be doing their utmost to ensure the success of the upcoming point-to-point.

It’s unclear if she is the only female Clerk of the Course in Ireland but there can’t be many.

It seems that the ladies are really coming to the fore as shown by the result of the Grand National. Karen Ferris is one of the ambitious young lady jockeys and she is now riding the CKC syndicate’s Carlanstown and they hope to be running at Moneyglass.

The Mid-Antrim Hunt would like to thank the race sponsors who are supporting the day’s racing and also all the other sponsors who support the day.

The programme of racing is as follows: Dennison Commercials 4 year old maiden race; Sunstart Bakeries Winner of Two; Albert Bartlett & Sons 5 year old geldings maiden race; McBurney Transport Open Lightweight Race; The Diamond Bar 5 yr old and upward Mares Maiden Race; Aircore 6 yr old and upward Geldings Race.
