Point-to-point event in Ballymena this Saturday

As before the entrance will be off the Caherty Road, Broughshane and the first race starts at 2pm.

The Clerk of the Course, David Crawford and his Assistant Paul Ferguson, with their band of helpers, have been working flat out to improve the course from last year and it looks a picture.

Children can, as usual, come into the course for free and, weather permitting, parents can take them to play on the complimentary bouncy castles if they get bored with the racing.

The race committee are very grateful to the McBurney family for use of the land, and for sponsoring the fourth race which is the Open Lightweight Race.

Dennison Commercials Limited are, as usual, sponsoring the Maiden Race for 4 year olds.

The second race, the Maiden Race for 5 year old geldings is supported by another very strong supporter of point-to-pointing, Albert Bartlett and Sons, who have also done so much for the sport.

The third race is in the Confined Maiden Race for 5 year olds plus, in memory of two well-known hunting and racing enthusiasts, sadly no longer with us, Andy Hamilton and Jack Russell.

As mentioned before, McBurney Transport are providing the venue and sponsoring the fourth Open Lightweight Race.

The fifth Race is the Maiden Race for 5 year old and upwards Mares and is sponsored by JNK Components, Pennybridge.

The last race, the Maiden Race for 6 year old and upwards geldings is sponsored by City Auction Group who are auctioneers based in Carryduff.

Not to be forgotten are the faithful sponsors Wilsons Auctions and Tom Topping who sponsors the prizes for those horses who are best turned out at the meeting.
