Pool fraternity mourns death of Paddy Birt
THE Ballymena Towers Pool League was this week mourning the passing of one of its leading office-bearers, Paddy Birt.
The Cushendall man was the league’s president and was widely recognised as an important figurehead in the sport locally.
Paddy was at the forefront of many of the developments in local pool and was at the forefront of the amalgamation of the Towers and Town and Country Pool League some years back.
“He was very well known and respected and local pool would have been poorer without his input,” said Towers League secretary Campbell Garrett.
