POOL: Galacticos top the pile

It’s as you were in first and second spot at the top off the Carrick and District Pool League as Derek Whiteside’s Galacticos and Paul Roberts’s Swift both registered comfortable wins.

Galacticos travelled to Whitehouse WMC and overcame Scorpions 9-5, helped to no end by racing into a fantastic 5-0 start.

Swift had an impressive 10-4 win, also away from home, against Eastway in Rathcoole. Best for Swift were Roberts and Stuart McClean, both with maximum trebles.

Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys are going from strength to strength and now sit proudly in third spot after a convincing 10-4 win over Barbarians.

There was stalemate between GWMSC and 39ERS, with the 39ERS player Kyle Kirkwood scoring a hat-trick, including the vital 14th frame which gave a point to both teams.

There was also a stalemate in the big Whitehead derby match, with Spartans Robert Hawkins winning the 14th frame to ensure his team a point. Kenny English notched up a fine treble as Spartans came back from 0-3 down.

This was Gribben’s last match for the Trojans as he now makes his transfer over to stablemates The Spartans. HM&H move up to seventh after a 9-5 home win against Alpha.

And finally, well done to Clare Webster’s Warriors who chalked up their first win off the season to move off the bottom of the table thanks to a fine 9-5 win over Teddy Bears.
