Pool returns

MCCLEANS Bookmakers Div.1 returned with a bang last Tuesday night and both leagues threw up some shock results.

Bridge Bar B 6 Railway 2

THE Railway’s title hopes took a severe dent this week losing to bottom half side, Bridge Bar B.

The Railway got off to a dream start through, their end of year signing, S Finnegan.

On paper the second frame could have been decided on the flip of a coin between R Paxton and S McKay. McKay usually can talk the talk but tonight he walked the walk.

At 1-1 the away side were probably still favourites and with Joe McGivern at the helm they were surely about to go 2-1 up. Joe didn’t disappoint the away side and they looked like repeating their triumph against the Bridge B earlier in the season.

Without their saviour Deano, in reserve, it didn’t look good for the home team but his partner in crime, Ricer, made easy pickings of A McCahon before P Malcomson and E McKay won their frames to guarantee a point.

The Railway have pulled off great comebacks in the past and they’d need another one here to keep their title challenge on track.

But Bridge B Capt. R Hunter has vowed to pick up his game for the second half of the season and he dually performed in winning fashion, with E McKay, to send his team back to winning ways.

Ricer and R Connell won the last to ensure Ricer stays top in their player of the year.

Mulholland’s B 3 Market Bar 5

THE Dromore Derby always ends up close affair and this match didn’t disappoint.

The away side got off to a flyer with wins from P McStraw and M McCormick, whose form was not affected by the winter break in the league.

D Russell extended the Market’s lead before M Jardine pulled one back, but he was the only sparkle of hope for the home side as G Graham and P Beggs wound the match up before the doubles were even played.

With the match already over, Mulholland’s could only take the bad look off the defeat and they dually obliged winning both the remaining matches.

Imperial v O’Reilly’s

THIS match was postponed due to a bereavement. Much condolences to all those involved.
