POOL: Saints go two points clear after Feathers win

The Saints are two points clear at the top of the Q Club Larne Pool League after they ended the unbeaten run of Feathers with a 10-5 win at the Pigeon Club.

The Saints were 2-0 down but a high-quality performance - including, three break-and-dishes on the trot - saw Dean McDonagh’s men come through.

Thatch moved up to second after defeating Q Pool 10-5 in a match that saw both teams missing key players.

A late Johnny Nelson double ensured full points for the champions with Eddie Gribben taking his chance and grabbing a hat-trick too.

Ibrox quietly move up to joint-second after overcoming the No. 1 Reds 10-5 with the help of an Ed McDowell treble.

This year’s surprise package, Tech Tornadoes, continued their fine run to beat Station Bar 10-5 and with, seven wins in a row, will now focus on breaking into the league’s top four.

Q Club kept their winning run going with a 10-5 success against Gers. Tyler McConnell, Tyler McKee and Wayne Lewis all won three each.

The No. 1 Blues’ Craig Johnston won a play-off frame to ensure a point at home to the Freewheelers, who had Jim Baxter to thank for a well-earned treble.

St Comgall’s got back on track with a 9-6 home win over the Thatch, with Kieran McAlister pocketing a hat-trick.

And Clonlee completed a unique treble with a 9-6 success over Ruby’s, ensuring all three of the St Comgall’s club’s team won on the night.
