POOL: Saints lose first points and Thatch close the gap

It was a landmark week in the Q Club Larne Pool League as leaders The Saints lost their first points of the season to Station Bar.

It was a fine 10-5 win for the railway men who had Davy McKendry to thank after he pocketed a treble.

That defeat opens up the door to the defending champions Thatch who made light work of stablemates Thatch Rockets with an emphatic 14-1 demolition.

Ibrox and Q Pool turned on the style, both having comprehensive away wins in the race for third.

Ibrox’s Stephen Johnston landed a hat-trick, including two break-and-dishes in a 13-2 success at St Comgall’s, while Dessie Cooper and Paul Francey got trebles for Q Pool in their 12-3 win.

Q Club’s good form continues with a 9-6 victory over Feathers, while an Aaron Wright hat-trick also ensured the Gers beat the Tech Tornadoes on the same scoreline.

No. 1 Reds had a solid 11-4 win over basement boys Ruby’s. In another bottom-of-the-table clash, No. 1 Blues kept their nerve to get over the line 9-6 against Clonlee.
