POOL: Thatch ease to routine win over St Comgall’s

Week three of the Q Club Larne Pool League saw five teams maintain their 100 per cent starts.

Champions Thatch had a routine 11-4 win over St Comgall’s with Johnny Nelson and Ryan McKillop coming through with hat-tricks.

The Saints’ lack of squad depth was apparent as they fielded just four men against Thatch Rockets. And, after going 5-0 down, a costly defeat looked to be on the cards. That was until Anthony McCorry and Bill McIlroy jr. hat-tricks helped the Saints recover to win 9-6.

Ibrox also won 9-6 after a hard-fought win over the Tech Tornadoes, while Q Pool won the first Q Club derby with a 10-5 win; Neil Mckelvey with a treble.

The Feathers had a fright courtesy of No. 1 Blues who took the pigeon club men to a play-off frame and were thankful to Stephen Peoples who won the all-important play-off frame.

The Gers had three hat-trick heroes in their 12-3 success over Clonlee. They were: Stuart Houston, Colin Wilson and Mark Wilson.

The No. 1 Reds got back to winning ways with a 10-5 victory over the Freewheelers, despite a Geoff McMichael hat-trick. Last, but not least, Station Bar recorded a solid 10-5 away win to Ruby’s.
