POOL: Title contenders maintain perfect league starts

Week two of the Q Club Larne Pool League saw the main title contenders all comfortably win to maintain their 100 per cent starts.

Champions Thatch made the short trip to No. 1 Blues and came back from two down to win 11-4. Johnny Nelson and Colin Montgomery helped with hat-tricks.

The Saints, meanwhile, won 10-5 at Q Club. A good team performance saw them push on from being 5-4 up to secure the victory.

Q Pool and Ibrox took on Clonlee and St Comgall’s respectively. Each had a few scares before coming away comfortable victories Q Pool’s debutant Paul Francey landed an impressive hat-trick in a 10-5 win and Ibrox won 11-4.

The Feathers will also have their eye on a title challenge after adding experience to their ranks and came away with a convincing 11-4 win at the LTOB club. Alan Corrigan and Alan Johnston pocketed hat-tricks.

Thatch Rockets made it two from two with an impressive 9-6 win over the No. 1 Reds aided by a Vincent Berkley treble, while the Freewheelers had a similar 9-6 win over Ruby’s, helped by a hat-trick from Jim Baxter.

Gers got their first win of the season with a 10-5 win over Station Bar.
