Portrush Seconds march on in league

South Antrim 0 Portrush Seconds 3

The good form that Portrush Seconds have displayed during the past few weeks was maintained on Saturday when they travelled to Lisburn and defeated South Antrim by three goals to nil.

Although expected to win, Portrush didn’t have it all their own way particularly in the first half although the visitors did register a two-goal lead by the break.

The problem for Portrush appeared to be the bouncy surface which they found difficulty adapting to, but when they did, there was no stopping them.

The first goal was scored by Richard McNabb following good work by Craig Hogg who had an outstanding game with his never-say-die attitude.

The second was netted by Graham Christie just before half time.

Portrush dominated the second period and Andy Dalzell managed a third to make the game safe.

Portrush are still well in contention for the league title but with six games remaining have to play catch up on the leaders.

Win their remaining matches and they’ll almost certainly lift the title. However, it could come down to the last game of the season against current league leaders Annadale and what a mouth-watering prospect that would be.

In addition to Craig Hogg, Simon Bourne, Graham Christie and John McMullan can feel pleased with their performances.
