Portstewart continue in Junior Cup

PORTSTEWART Golf Club's Junior Cup team were playing Carnalea Golf Club at Hilton, Templepatrick, for a place in the semi final of the Junior Cup on Sunday.

Chris Barber and Neil Vallelly were out first and Chris winning his match and Neil losing his the tie was finely balanced.

In the meantime, Dan Henry was fighting a close battle at No 4, eventually securing a half point. It came down to needing at least a win and a half match to win the tie.

Paul Cooley and Keith Walls went one better and took both points for a 3.5/1.5 victory and secured their spot in the semis against Lurgan Golf Club or Dunmurry Golf Club at Galgorm Castle Golf Club on 6th August.

Team Captain Eamon McCotter, who fell victim to a bad back, was delighted with this progress and is already formulating a plan for the semis.
