Portstewart Ladies in action

FIFTY-THREE ladies braved the foggy conditions on May 5 to take part in the medal competition on Portstewart Golf Club's Strand course.

The winners were Julie Corbett (32) with a nett score of 75 (better back 9) over Brenda Strain (10), also with nett score 75. Anne Agnew (10) won the best gross with 88. Brenda Strain, Mo Giffin and Pauline Agnew all scored twos.

The first open day of the summer season took place on May 12 and was sponsored by Mrs TBF Thompson. 65 ladies played including 33 visitors. First prize went to Maggie Penny (16) with 38 points. Runner-up was Doreen Fleming (18) with 37 points (better back 9) over Lynn Mc Cartney (32) also with 37 points.

Violet McBride (4) from Belvoir won the best gross with 31 gross points. Fourth prize was won by Natalie Cumming from Dunfanaghy with 36 points. The front nine was won by May Johnston (28) with 20 points and back nine went to Denise Ross (32) with 21 points. Nine players had twos.

The next Open Competition is the Lafone Cup on June 23.

Due to insufficient numbers of players on May 5 there was no competition on the Riverside.

On May 12 20 ladies enjoyed a competition with Charlotte Logue(36) winning with 20 points over Bertha Dalzell (26) also with 20 points.
