Badges of Office and were flowers presented before Nessa and Penny Hemphill each delivered a bowl to open the greens. It was a dull but lovely warm evening in The Port suitable for a good game of bowls and over 50 members turned out to enjoy themselves.

Two mixed games of 6 ends were played before the Ladies and Gents had their separate spider competitions. After that everyone adjourned to the Clubhouse for a lovely meal prepared as usual by the Ladies. President Nessa presented her prizes to winner Pauline Curry, Runner-up Caroline Murray and Spider prize to Betty Linton. Noel Linton the NI Provincial Vice President brought greetings and good wishes to Nessa and Marcus from the Errol Whitten, Irish Bowling Association President and Kieran Adams President of the Northern Ireland Provincial Bowling Association. He also gave the dates of the Provincial Finals to be played at Portstewart this year with an outline of the important events scheduled for next year when the Provincial President chain of office would be held by a Portstewart man.

President Marcus thanked the Ladies for a lovely spread set out for a full Clubroom. The usual craIc during the evening included stories by those returning from holidays in Malta and Portugal together with one member recovering from a heart attack, another just out of hospital and of course the number of members waiting for surgery to knees and other vital parts. And so life goes on in Portstewart in this busy world.

Whilst this was going on one of the young lads, Gareth McLean played and won his first round of the IBA Open Singles.
