Portstewart out-smart the students

CHRIS Donnell was the man on target in Portstewart's win over Queen's on Saturday.

The victory, erased any memory of their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lurgan Celtic last Tuesday night.

Saturday’s victory was Portstewart’s second against the Belfast side this season.

An excellent pass from Owen Peden reached Chris Donnell who slotted home the only goal of Saturday’s league clash.

Portstewart’s defence of James Peden and Craig Ramsey shut out the Queen’s forward line, while Owen Peden controlled the midfield.

Had luck been on their side, Gary Taylor’s side could have went in at the break three up - Rowan Neill and Tommy Parsons both having efforts on goal.

However as the first half concluded, Hugh McAllister pulled off a good save to keep his side ahead.

Portstewart started the second half were they left off.
