Pressurised fixture list for Roesiders

LIMAVADY United have only a few days to get over their Intermediate Cup game with Armagh City before they entertain Coleraine in the JJB Irish Cup.

This game was due to be played last weekend but Wakehurst weren't prepared to play the game midweek.

This intransigence from Wakehurst has cost United several thousand pounds which the club would have expected to taken from a Saturday afternoon game.

That said with the visit of the North West neighbours Coleraine there should still be a very good crowd at the Showgrounds.

The two teams have already met this season in the North West Senior Cup with the visitors coming out on top despite United being the better team.

Coleraine are currently eight in the Carling Premiership with thirty points from their twenty one games.

They have won nine of those games, losing the other twelve and haven't drawn a single game in the league.

Despite the presence of Leon Knight in their team they have only managed twenty six goals whilst conceding thirty.

This game will also see the return of several ex-Roesiders with Stephen Lowry, Gareth Tommons and Aaron Canning all playing for Coleraine.

Limavady's Trevor Hutchinson will be looking to impress his former manager, David Platt, who released the striker two seasons ago.

United boss Oran Kearney is looking forward to his side testing themselves once again against top flight opposition.

"Without doubt we are all looking forward to this game against Coleraine that's for sure," he said.

"Every player wants to play at the highest level possible and we are looking forward to testing ourselves again against Coleraine.

"We have been a bit unlucky the last couple of times we have played them so hopefully this time luck will be on our side.

"We have shown in those two games in the North West Cup that we are able to compete with these sorts of teams.

"I don't think there will be any motivation needed for this game from either Trevor (McKendry) or myself.

"It's also a local derby so I'm sure that all of my players will be looking forward to getting stuck into Coleraine," he concluded.

This game will be played on Tuesday, January 25 at the Limavady Showgrounds with a 7.45pm kick off.
