Primary Schools Swimming Gala held

The Lagan Valley LeisurePlex in Lisburn recently hosted the 31st annual ‘Primary Schools Swimming Gala’ for the Lisburn area.

This spectacular event took place on May 9 and consisted of 34 individual gala events, featuring 25 schools competing across two sessions.

The Gala was a resounding success.

In the morning session the Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Joseph Mulholland of St Aloysius Primary School and in the afternoon the Outstanding Achievement went to Seren Mageean from Harmony Hill Primary School. Pond Park pupil Leah Bethel set a new record in the 11 Year Olds 25 Meter Backstroke with a very impressive time of 16:20, 0.56 seconds faster than the previous record.

Programmes were on sale and the full £320 proceeds was presented to the Mayor, Cllr Margaret Tolerton for her mayoral charity, The Lagan Valley Diabetes Fund.
