PRIORIANS Firsts travelled to The Showgrounds on Saturday to play Ballymena for the second time this season; having suffered a 1-0 defeat from the previous game, Priorians were up for a fight.

From the starting whistle Priorians put the pressure on Ballymena with great passing between all players; the play was even with both sides creating equal chances.

It was a long corner taken by the Ballymena side about 10 minutes into the first half that resulted in a goal for the home side, there were objections from the Prior side as to whether or not the goal should have been allowed as the striker did not carry out one of this season's new rules - but the goal was allowed.

After half-time Priorians battled on, putting up with some heavy tackles from the Ballymena side which resulted in Camilla Lyttle having to go off due to an ankle injury, which weakened Priorians' midfield.

Priorians fought on through the second half but could not even the score.

The final whistle blew with the visitors narrowly losing despite their best efforts, which in truth should have resulted in at least a share of the spoils.

Player of the match was Coral Lapsley.
