Priorians skipper ends on losing note

Knock...5

Priorians...0

PRIORIANS travelled on Saturday to face Knock and unfortunately despite doing a whole lot better in the second half, they still left Belfast with a 5-0 defeat.

The Prior girls were hopeful as they beat Knock 2-0 in their first meeting in the league last year. Although Prior were quiet the play started off even between both sides with both teams pushing towards goal, but Knock were the first to be successful with an early goal. Priorians girls seemed to lose spirit allowing the Knock attack to continue and so the goals kept on coming too and by half-time the score was Knock 4 Priorians 0.

After a stern talk at half time Priorians came back out fighting the passing improved but it still wasn’t enough to penetrate the Knock defence.

Both sides were battling hard but Prior just couldn’t get their game together like we would normally see on a Saturday. Prior were awarded only two penalty corners which were both unsuccessful.

Although the Prior play had improved, Knock were able to get another goal. There was no way back for the travelling side leaving Belfast with a 5-0 defeat.

Although there were key players missing this week the team were sorely disappointed with the result. Priorians 1st XI will be losing a great asset this week with captain Cherith Allen departing for Australia; everyone at the club would like to thank her for all that she has done for the club this year and she will be sorely missed by everyone.
