DROMORE Ladies Firsts travelled to Londonderry to face league rivals Priorians on Saturday.

After a quick warm up Dromore stepped up for pass back. From early in the first half Dromore passed hard forcing Priorians’ defence to work tirelessly.

Constant pressure from Dromore midfield and forwards created opportunities in the attacking circle. However, the Priorian defence kept Dromore at bay.

Priorians fought back finding their way into the Dromore circle, taking a shot the opposing winger which forced a save from on form keeper Claire Lowry.

Priorians continued to press the Dromore circle as Dromore struggled to clear the ball, resulting in a couple of short corners. These were well defended on the line and Dromore eventually started to push forward.

The midfield began to gain control and push up with forwards Katie McQuillen, Emma Cochrane and Zoe Bawden all creating good chances in the circle but Priorians defence were able to clear the ball away quickly.

Dromore were lucky to end the first half scoreless but after half time team talk from coach Geoff Colligan Dromore immediately pressed and Katie McQuillen was unlucky not to find the back of the net after a through ball from midfield found her one on one with the goalkeeper. This resulted in Priorians making a lucky breakthrough and managed to put the ball in the back of the net.

Dromore kept up the pressure and battled hard for an equaliser with Rachel Russell winning several short corners. However Dromore failed to capitalise on their chances time and time again.

The game ended with Dromore disappointed by their under par performance. They will need a return to form in their next league match if they wish to finish in the top half of the league this season.
