Quiet Prior lose

ON Saturday Priorians Ladies 1st XI hosted Banbridge 1sts and from the warm up the coach had his fears about how quiet the home side were and he watched his side lose 2-0.

His concerns were met when the pass back was taken, Priorians were very quiet and went immediately in defensive mode.

The home side tried to play the ball but the passing just wasn’t there and players were getting easily frustrated when things did not go their way.

Banbridge played their usual text book and predictable hockey but still the Prior side allowed this to continue – at half-time the score was 0-0 with Banbridge creating much more chances that Prior,

The coach voiced his concerns at half time about the lack of communication and fight, so after the half time whistle the home side picked their game up a little and created some good chances for themselves, but the fight was not there 100 per cent with Banbridge continuing to play the ball around the home side and creating chances, this continuous pressure resulted in a goal. This added salt to the wound, Priorians could just not seem to get it together, the passing was inaccurate and 50/50 balls were going in the oppositions favour. Bandbridge pushed the ball forward and were awarded free after free until it was a penalty corner which resulted in their second goal.

Priorians seemd to pick things up after this realising that the game nearly over they needed to work hard and try and get what they could from the game but continuous umpiring decisions from Banbridge umpire made sure that the home side could not progress up the pitch to put pressure on the away side.

Priorians have a lot of work to do this week on communication and confidence building as so far this season the results have not been there, even when the side play well they are only coming away with a draw.

Next week the girls need to come out fighting and trust that they can win.
