QUINN IS OUT FOR REVENGE

GLENAVON boss Marty Quinn is out for revenge on Dungannon this week.

This comes after the Swifts embarrassed the Lurgan Blues, beating them 4-0 at Stangmore Park back in December.

The sides are set to meet twice in the coming week as they come face to face in a Carling Premiership fixture at Mourneview Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) before taking to the field at Stangmore Park in the semi-final of the Mid-Ulster Cup on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

That defeat to the Swifts was part of an 11 game winless run in the league which has led to the Blues being out of contention for a top six spot in the Premiership this season but Quinn is still going all out to get the three points on Saturday that will help them to ensure as high a standing in the final league table as possible.

This weekend, the gaffer is determined to get three more of those points against Dixie Robinson’s men and will use that dire December day to help motivate his side going into the game.

“I still feel sore about the 4-0 tanking that they gave us down there. They really enjoyed it and milked it on the day so I’m out for revenge big time,” he proclaimed.

“I’m absolutely gunning for the three points. Nobody is safe down in that lower region of the table yet so we’ll be trying to get more points on the board. I’ll have the lads up for it even though the top six is gone now. We want to get a seventh or eighth place finish in the league this year.

“Ryan Harpur is suspended and it will be between a couple of the lads as to who comes in although it will probably be Willo (McDonagh).”

After round one of the battle, the two teams will patch up their wounds and ready themselves for the next instalment just three days later when a place in the Mid-Ulster Cup final is at stake. Quinn is equally as strong in his desire to come out on top in this game and says he will be playing his full team in the local competition in order to ensure silverware is brought to Mourneview Park come the end of the season.

“We’ll try and get to the Mid-Ulster Cup final for sure,” he said.

“There’s a cup there to be won and we’ll be doing our best to get to the final. We’ll be treating the competition with a lot of respect and I’ll put out as strong a team as I possibly can on Tuesday night.

“As I say, when we entered the competition, we entered it to try and win it and the situation hasn’t changed.”
