Quiz night thanks as GP gears up

BANBRIDGE Cycling Club would like to thank all those who participated in the recent quiz night held at the Coach.

The event was extremely well supported with 21 teams and well over 100 participants all having an expectantly fun night especially the ‘Pussy Cat Dolls’ who managed to win a one minute shop to you drop experience behind the bar,

There was a close battle all the way for the victors with rival teams being able to track progress on the projected score table, but there had to be one winner in the form of team ‘Premature Speculation’, second place going to team ‘Pinley People’, and ‘Quizzy Rascals’ taking third spot.

A big thank you has to go to the quiz masters Frank Wallace and Willy Woodside who put together 10 rounds of taxing and head scratching questions to keep everyone well entertained on the night.

The Irish road racing calendar will once again kick off in traditional style with the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP on Saturday February 23. This event is always a popular race for those who have invested time and miles over the winter months.

Two races will be on offer; Race one will cater for A1’s, 2’s and 3’s and will be held in a handicapped format with a small advantage given to each category to keep the racing competitive for everyone. Race two will be a mass start for A4’s only. At approximately 40 miles for both events, this is an ideal race to kick start your season and get the legs and lungs opened up.

As per previous years the entry fee will still be £10 for senior riders and £5 for juniors.

Both races will depart at 12 noon from the Hawthorn Inn and will be followed by presentations to the prize winners when hot soup and sandwiches will be available for all.

Please feel free to come down and show your support for our local riders especially the guys in yellow, red and black.
