Rafters Rockets soar in final

The Kieran McGrath Memorial Cup Snooker Competition took place on Monday 20 February at 7.30pm.

Rafters Snooker Club saw one of the tightest finals in the history of the club between Rafters Rockets and Rafters Legends.

It was so tight it had to go to a one-frame play-off between Lee Gibson and Ryan O’Doherty.

Gibson from the Rockets held his nerve and took home the silverware for the Rafters Rockets team.

O’Doherty had his chances but it was Gibson who took the lead and frame.

The beaten semi-finalists were Rafters Aces and Rafters Sharks.

A Supper was put on for all players and guests and the cup was presented by the late Kieran McGrath’s family, Dorothy and Gavin Young.

Rafters’ Richard Wylie presented Dorothy with a bouquet of flowers.

Richard would like to thank all the teams who took part and for everyone who turned up to watch the final.

A great night was had by all.

Richard would also like to thank Dorothy and Gavin for their continued support and hard work that they put into the competition each year.

Kieran was a member of Rafters for more than 10 years and was loved by everyone who knew him.

He is a snooker figure who is sadly missed.
