The competition brought together 34 teams from across the province all with the aim of being crowned Ulster Champions.

After a shaky start Rainey began to apply themselves and in the first round won four of their five games which meant being pooled with the top twelve teams in for the second round.

The standard of hockey was high throughout and a hard fought draw with Ballymoney and a narrow victory against Mossley meant the girls were into the semi-finals against a very good Portadown side.

The semi-final was again a very close encounter but two late goals from striker Gaby Scott led Rainey to victory setting up a final against old rivals Coleraine.

There was nothing between the sides in the final, Coleraine pressed from the start but some last ditch defending from Erin Hastings and Mary Payne kept them at bay and with Imogen Millar, Elena McCrum and Imogen Graham starting to take control of the midfield Rainey began to look likely winners. No score at full time meant the game was going to be decided by a golden goal in extra time.

A couple of minutes into extra time and Rainey midfield fed the ball through to Gaby Scott and with a one on one with the Coleraine keeper Gaby kept her cool to slot the ball into the corner and bring the trophy to Rainey mini hockey for the first time in the clubs history.

This is fabulous achievement by a very talented bunch of players who should be very proud their performance. Special thanks to the supporting parents and coaches who helped bring the trophy back to Magherafelt.
