Rallying cry for club

However, the club have said it is only with members’ support that the ambitious plans can proceed.

Lurgan Rugby and Cricket Club have issued a rallying cry to members to attend two upcoming meetings at the clubhouse described as the most important for decades.

The meetings will address the club’s plans for a new, state-of-the-art clubhouse and artificial pitch.

The ‘MAIL’ understands the possibility of bringing on board Lurgan Ladies Hockey Club is also being explored.

The meetings take place this Monday, November 4 and on Tuesday, November 12 at 7pm each evening.

At them there will be presentations from Chairman Ian McMurray and President Alan Hunter for club members and Tigers’ parents on the proposed redevelopment of Pollock Park and the future of the club.

The same presentation will be given each evening and everyone connected with the club is asked to make an effort to attend one of the meetings.

In a letter to members, the club stated: “These are probably the most important meetings in the club for decades, so it is essential that every member comes along and provides their input.

“The level of interest shown by our members at these meetings will determine whether or not the management committee proceeds with a business plan and seeks grant funding to provide a state-of-the-art sporting and social complex at Pollock Park.

“We need the support and views of every member and Tigers’ parents, so please make a big effort to attend.”

A feasibility study has been carried out by Tate Stevenson architects, grant funded by the Department of Social Development.

The next stage would be for the club to put forward a business plan and seek grant aid funding.
