Randalstown ladies give six-shooting display in cup win

Randalstown 1st XI played Rainey last weekend in the Quarter Final of the Presidents Cup at Antrim Forum and emregd as 6-0 winners.

The match remained level at 0-0 until Randalstown scored 3 goals in the last 5 minutes of the half, the first coming from Jayne McGrillen who finished coolly.

The second was an excellent passage of play from back to front carving Rainey open with Nicole Moore finishing unmarked at the back post.

The third on the cusp of half time was well worked by Katherine McDowell who weaved past three defenders before slipping the ball past the keeper.

More goals came in the second half from Alex Oligby during a typical short corner piece and Kerry Coulter who finished at the back post. The final goal was scored by Sharon Graham after a short corner variation.

Randalstown 1st XI will travel to Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, Hillsborough this coming weekend for the IHL playoff tournament from Friday through to Sunday.

Randalstown play all three teams in their section with two progressing to the Semi-Finals the following weekend. Randalstown play Lurgan on Friday at 5.30pm, Old Alex at 4pm on Saturday and Glenanne at 2.30pm on Sunday. All support is welcome.

Randalstown II 1, Ulster Elks II 3: Randalstown 2nd XI played Ulster Elks in the Quarter Final of the Plate on Monday night at Antrim Forum. Town broke the deadlock in the first half, however, they let Elks equalise straight away after sloppy play.

Elks took their opportunity midway through the half to double their goal tally. The Town team had to chase the match after this and were undone in the dying minutes when Elks broke and finished a third goal to put the tie at bay.

UNDER-15

Randalstown U15 Performance team travelled to Portadown for their Quarter Final Cup match.

Randalstown recovered well after falling behind with Anna Doherty slicing through midfield to pass onto Charlotte Stacy who beat three defenders and levelled the score. Randalstown grabbed a second goal squeezing the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs but Portadown equalised near the end. The score stayed the same after extra time and the resulting penalty shoot out saw Portadown go through.
