Rasharkin maintain unbeaten record

Ballymena and Provincial Football League sponsored by Michelin Athletic Club.

WITH the weather good games were played on Wednesday and Saturday in the Intermediate Division and on Saturday a few of the Junior teams got into action. This week will again see the Intermediate teams in action on the Wednesday and Saturday and the majority of Junior teams will be playing on the Saturday.

INTERMEDIATE reports - League -

COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC 5 DUNLOY 2

The Olympic went in front after Kevin Kelly converted a penalty on the 23rd minute then doubled their lead when Ruari Scullion scored on the 38th minute.

Benny McGarry pulled a goal back for Dunloy on the 40th minute but a 35 yard screamer scored by Dean Campbell on the 43rd minute and a second for Kevin Kelly on the 45th minute saw the Cookstown based team well in control at half-time.

Dunloy threw caution to the wind in the second half but the Olympic held firm and increased their lead after Gary Maguire scored on the 79th minute this being followed by a second goal for Dunloy scored by Kevin McAllister on the 83rd minute.

RASHARKIN UNITED 3 DESERTMARTIN 2

It was a very late goal that secured the points for Rasharkin leaving Desertmartin with nothing after being in the lead with five minute of normal time to play.

No goals were scored during the first–half then on the 46th minute Jonny Grimes scored putting Desertmartin in front.

Rasharkin got back level after Josie Nicholl converted a penalty on the 55th minute but Desertmartin were back in front after Robin Patton scored on the 56thminute.

Desertmartin held firm and were looking like taking all three points until Wm Smyth popped in the equaliser for Rasharkin on the 85th minute then with the game deep into stoppage time Ian Parkhill struck at the heart of Desertmartin with the winner for Rasharkin.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

BALLYMONEY UNITED RESERVES 2 KILLYMOON RANGERS RESERVES 2

This was a cracking game which saw Andrie Kiskova score to put Ballymoney in front on the 30th minute but a superbly struck free kick from Cameron Stewart on the 35th minute saw Killymoon back level.

The pace of the game never slackened then on the 76th minute Andy Rea rattled in a second goal for the visitors who could have went further on front but for missing a penalty on the 82nd minute. With this let off Ballymoney threw everything into attack getting a point from the game after Gerard O'Mullan scored on the 86th minute.

This was a learning curve for the young players in the Ballycastle team who had come from an early goal deficit to lead at half-time through goals scored by Patrick Black and Paul Boyle on the 25th and 40th minutes.

Straight after half-time the home side scored two quick goals within five minutes to lead and a fourth goal as time was running out killed off any hopes Ballycastle had.
