Record breaking day for Springwell

Records tumbled at the Portrush Parkrun on Saturday.

The low tide left plenty of firm sand for the 37 runners taking part. There was a light breeze on the runners’ backs on the way home and of course bright winter sunshine. The overnight frost left the promenade icy in places so the run started and finished on the beach for the first time.

Springwell’s Chris Denton and Gemma Turley were the first male and female runners’ home. Both set new course records, Chris 18:01 and Gamma 20:46. Bryan Edgar also set a new Age Graded course record, recording a 78.95% run (18:41).
