Over 1,900 entrants have signed up to the challenge and entries are now closed. The Mayor, Brenda Stevenson, will be taking her place alongside the relay team entrants in support of Circle of Support for Autism Families and Something Special.

Event organiser Gerry Lynch, said the numbers indicated the significance of the race for established running clubs, and amateur athletes.
