Red Sails success as Denise lifts EJ Donnelly Cup

This year the open competition was played on July 19 on the Riverside Course. 63 lady members of Portstewart Golf Club and 16 visitors participated. The winner was Denise Ross (27) with 44 points, runner-up was Mo Giffin (19) with 43 points and in third place was Margaret Allison (14) with 42 points.

The front nine was won by Lady Captain Christine Hutchinson (20) with 23 points and back nine by Adele Whitten (29) with 22 points. Two’s were scored by A Wilson (Portrush), Rae Cutler, Dorothy McMullan and H Kane (Knock). Prizes were presented by Iris Adger on behalf of the Community Association.

Meanwhile in spite of the inclement weather 28 ladies competed for the O’Kane Cup and July Monthly Medal on July 21. The winner was Julie Corbett (31) with 79; best gross was Sheelagh Duffy (15) with 82 and runner up was Jennifer Mullan (23) with 79.
