Reds accolade for departing Hutchinson

COOKSTOWN Hockey Club have paid tribute to former captain Ian Hutchinson following his decision to try his hand at a new sport in the upcoming season.

In a statement from the club, a Cookstown spokesman said, "We would like to thank Ian for the fourteen seasons he was with us, especially the historic seasons 07/08 and 08/09 which saw so much success including an appearance in the Irish Senior Cup final and the Ulster Premier League title coming back to Cookstown for the first time in twenty-five years.

"To back this glory up as Captain and then as a valued part of the team under Ian Hughes’ captaincy in 09/10 makes Ian our most successful captain in the Cookstown’s history. As a result, the club is now in a stronger and better place thanks to his and his teammates’ efforts.”

'The Swede' leaves the team to join Rainey Old Boys Rugby Club in Magherafelt and all at Cookstown wish him every success for the future. Smash ‘em up!
