Reilly shining for Foyle Cycling Club

Foyle Cycling Club racing team has started the season in fine style.

Ryan Reilly, the club’s leading junior, been selected to ride in the junior team, of combined juniors and seniors in the Tour of the North Stage Race at Easter.

Reilly’s form so far has been stunning and he claimed the prestigious Tour of the Mournes race recently.

Meanwhile, club stalwart, Lawrence Watson scored a magnificent victory in the Danny Boy classic race at Roe Valley Feeney Course Centre. As a result of this significant success, Lawrence has been upgraded to A2 status.

Leading junior Ryan Reilly notched up his first win in Foyle CC colours the A3 category at the Loup near Moneymore. The race was over five laps and was a thrilling contest. The group rode well throughout. Half way into the final lap, young Reilly saw his opportunity, and attacked. Showing great grit, determination and power, he pulled away from the closing pack, and powered to his career first big race win.

Club Chairman Mark Moroney said: “This is great news for Foyle CC. Enormous credit is due to our all racers, but we are very excited about the wonderful talent Ryan Reilly is showing. We are looking forward to an exciting season.”
