Reserve Leaguesreturn to old style

The Reserve Leagues will return to the old style format next season of three Divisional Leagues based in North, South and Mid Armagh.

Last season while the North Armagh section ran as smooth as could be expected, the Southern section, which also included teams from the Mid of the County, struggled to succeed in fulfilling fixtures to a satisfactory standard.

In 2013 the reserve league saw sides travelling to fulfil All County fixtures on a Wednesday night which caused difficulties for players. Many clubs will welcome the new move which still allows for a competitive North Armagh section of possibly 9 or 10 teams and if a smaller number participate, games could be arranged on a home and away basis.

Last season St. Peter’s won the All County Intermediate Championship title with Clan na Gael lifting the League Crown.

In the Senior section, Sarsfields finished as runners up in both the League and All County Championship.

In 2015 St Paul’s, Clan na Gael, St Peters, Wolfe Tones, Sarsfields, Maghery, Ballyhegan, Eire Og Annaghgmore and possibly Clonmore could all field sides in the North Armagh Reserve League, last season Clann Éireann lined out in the All County Junior League and the Clanns second string were unlucky in the Championship where they were narrowly beaten by eventual winners Keady.
