The local derby was due to take place at the Joey Dunlop Centre on Saturday and Lyttle had hoped to give a run out to a couple of players who had very little game time.

“I wasn’t happy when I was told the game is off. I had already told our lads who was playing on Saturday after our training session and some of them weren’t too pleased at being left out.

“We wanted to give a few different players a run out to give Jason (Wilmont) the chance to watch them because he might have been able to use some of them in his squad for tonight’s (Tuesday) cup game against Coagh United.

“That could have all been avoided if we had known earlier that Ballymoney weren’t going to field a team.

“Apparently it’s because their first team had a Steele & Sons Cup game and they were entitled to call it off. It’s not an ideal situation, now we have no game until next Saturday (22nd) when we play Bushmills at home.”
