Reserves draw a blank with Glenavon

COLERAINE Reserves entertained Glenavon Reserves at Coleraine Showgrounds on Saturday.

It was a scrappy affair, with both sides having players red carded in the 0-0 draw.

Sam Boylan and Nigel Turner both had early chances, but Glenavon’s Tuda Murphy dealt with their efforts.

At the other end, Coleraine’s Laurence McCormick was tested on a few occasion, but he pulled off two good saves to keep the game scoreless.

Glenavon’s new signing Rory Hamill lined out for the second string, and he threatened the Coleraine defence on a number of occasions with his physical presence.

Coleraine had a better second half, with spell of good football, but they couldn’t break the deadlock, and the game finished 0-0.

“We rode our luck in the first half, our defence of Johnny Watt, Karl Steele, Stuart Millar, Iain Wilson and Laurence McCormick kept us in the game,” admitted Reserves boss Aaron Forgrave.

“We had a better second half, we made a few changes, Kevin O’Neill came on and did well and Johnny Watt played a full 90 minutes, after coming back from injury.”

Coleraine Reserves have no fixture this Saturday, due to the Irish Cup.
