Reserves exit Shield at first hurdle

SEAPATRICK Reserves drew a tough first round match in the Mid Ulster Shield to Lurgan United.

Not fearing the opposition, Seapatrick got at them straight away with D Gourley and McCreanor pulling the strings in midfield.

Seapatrick came close with good work from Darcy and Sloan who whipped the ball in with Fearon coming close.

It was Lurgan United who got the best chance and took it when their forward squeezed the ball past Doherty’s near post to make it 1-0.

Seapatrick started the second half on fire and threw everything at Lurgan, they came close when Chambers past the ball to R Gourley with the winger going down the line and whipping a great ball to McClaridy who just missed with a shot.

Seapatrick got their chance when Fearon was brought down in the box, McCreanor took the penalty only for the keeper to pull a great save.

Seapatrick battled to the end but couldn’t break down the Lurgan defence.

This was a superb performance from the whole team, especially the defence.
