Revenge for the Maghera boys

Scoring opportunities were at a premium as St Patrick’s Maghera exacted revenge for defeat in last year’s final disappointment with two points in the last quarter from Danny Tallon securing a 0-7 to 0-5 winning margin over St Michael’s Enniskillen in Dunmoyle.

Enniskillen set themselves up defensively and closed the game down for long periods.

However, during the third quarter, they were the more creative in bringing the sides level on 0-5, with two points from Lee Brennan.

But they also made poor shot options at times and paid the penalty when Tallon got Maghera going again on the scoreboard.

Firstly he delivered via a beautiful right foot effort and then pointed a drive with his left foot.

There was a late scare for Maghera with Danny Leonard’s late effort smothered and cleared by Ciaran McCloy in goals.

Maghera’s best period was during the first half, but they also were guilty of taking the wrong option and were lucky to lead by two at the break,

Peter Cassidy’s 45 splitting the posts for the last score of the half and making it 0-5 to 0-3.

Brennan had scored two points during the second quarter for Enniskillen and he added two more during the third quarter, but his side couldn’t capitalise on the work-rate of their defence.
