Rinks Finals

The Pairs Finals Night, 5 days later on 16th March, provided much greater excitement with some very close matches only being resolved by the last few bowls. Sean Molloy and Eugene McAfee of Ballycastle Presbyterian came from behind in the last end of their semi final to beat the Ramoan Parish pairing of Joe Reid and Michael Page 6-5.

Their opponents in the final were the other Ramoan Parish rink of Peggy Tait and Elizabeth McCandless who had reached that stage after three superb matches with an aggregate score of 33 to 11. The score in the final was level before the last end, and the large crowd were thrilled to see the lead changing hands with almost every high quality bowl, until Sean Molloy’s final shot resulted in another turnover to take the match 7-6 for Ballycastle.Rinks Final - Carey 10 Ballycastle Presbyterian 2.
