Roe and behold!

ON Saturday Ballymoney 4th XV travelled to play Limavady 3rds in the league and emerged victorious by 29 – 3.

Ballymoney had a few new faces as there were a number of players attending Aidey White's stag weekend.

It took the visitors a while to settle and get adjusted to each other but it was not long before they laid siege to the home try line only to be thwarted by some determined defence from the homeside.

However the pressure did eventually pay off as Norman Finney dived over for the opening try.

This did not deter Limavady as they came back hard at the visitors and were rewarded with a penalty after a Ballymoney infringement at a lineout.

The rest of the half was largely played in Limavady territory but with no further scores.

The halftime whistle came as a welcome break and after some strong words the 4's were eager to up the tempo in the 2nd period. With the words still ringing in their ears the visiting forwards were now demonstrating their usual power.

From a line-out near the line the visiting forwards rumbled forward before releasing the ball for Gwayne Foster to crash over underneath the posts with J.Trainor adding the conversion.

Both backs and forwards were combining well with Dean Talbot making some incisive breaks in midfield. A penalty was quickly added by Jarvis before Ballymoney scored their best try of the game. With the forwards driving hard at the home defence they released quick ball for Gwayne Foster to pick out Mark Ferris who attacked the ball on a great line of running. In almost a replica of this try the same two players combined for Mark to score his second try on his return and Jarvis adding the conversion to leave the final score at 29 – 3 in favour of Ballymoney.

The 4's were generally happy with the two points but were not happy with their performance in the opening half but they were more satisfied with their showing in the 2nd period. They know they can play to a higher level and are confident that it will not be long before they do especially with the more difficult impending games.
